"SANTA"
This Santa is headed to "The Vintage Flea" in downtown Newnan, GA for the Christmas Open House this Sunday, November 14. If you are in the area, stop by and take a peak. The Vintage Flea has wonderful art and lots of great gifts.
This Santa is made with a piece of wood that I found on the beach. I added paint, beads, buttons , etc. and he is ready to hang.

"RED BIRD"
This is another of my small fiber art pieces. It is 5 inches by 5 inches, so it is easy to hang in small spaces.
I really love to stitch these "little birds" and have made them in many colors.

Another Driftwood Piece
I'm headed to the beach this weekend. Hopefully, it will be a little cooler there than it is here in Georgia.
This is another of my driftwood masks. I hope to find more driftwood to use for these pieces. If I'm lucky, maybe I will find some other "treasures" as well.

Spent Ten Days At The Beach .....
I just returned home after spending ten days at the beach. While I was there, I took some time to work on some of my "junk" art pieces. There are a couple of shops in the area that sell these pieces for me. One shop is The Grove in Mexico Beach. It is a very cute shop with great items (www.thegroveofmexicobeach.com)
This piece is made from a piece of driftwood that I found on the beach.

"Wizard"
Growing up, "The Wizard of Oz" was a favorite in our house. I have three sisters. The only time that we could eat in front of the television, was when "The Wizard of Oz" was on. So, about once a year, my mother spread a towel in front of the tv and the four of us lined up to eat dinner and watch the wizard. Boy, have times changed. Too often, I find myself eating in front of the tv.

"HAPPY DAYS"
There has been a lot going on around here (that's a good thing) and I've been doing a lot of stitching. All of the stitches in my fiber art are hand sewn and my fingers are very sore!!! I think they need a short break.
I just finished this piece "HAPPY DAYS". It was displayed at the Spring Art Walk, here in Newnan. I didn't sell this one, but sold four others. So, these are indeed "Happy Days."

For Harmony House
"Listen To Your Heart" is another fiber art piece.
I sew the fiber art piece to a canvas, so that it is easy to hang. I "textured" this canvas before painting and am pleased with the results.
It was completed on Saturday and has been donated to a fundraiser for Harmony House, a domestic violence shelter.

"LOOK ON THE SUNNY SIDE"
The Trinity School Artist Market in Atlanta was last week and I sold three out of my four pieces. I was thrilled! The artwork there was amazing and I was very honored to be asked to participate. So, this week I am definitely looking on the sunny side.

"FOR MONICA"
I made this piece for Monica, my 33 year old niece, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. She has just completed her 4th out of 6 chemo treatments. It is kind of hard to see the words on the piece, but two of the flowers have the names of her children on them. (Jett is 7 years old and Mattie Louise is 4)
If you look closely, you can see the pink breast cancer ribbon weaving through the piece.
Faith, Hope, Love, Joy, Strength, Believe, Trust, Courage, Inspire, Prayer are all included.

"FRANNIE"
"FRANNIE" is another of my junk art pieces. This mask is made with another piece of wood that I found on the beach. The earrings are from the 80's - lovely aren't they. I also added buttons, metal and little wooden pieces. These masks are fun to make because I use anything that I can find.
I'm headed to the beach this weekend and hope the weather will be warm enough for beachcombing. Hopefully, I will find some wonderful "treasures".

"TWO SISTERS"
Trinity School in Atlanta hosts a "Spotlight on Art" Artists Market. This year I have been invited to participate and will be taking four of my fiber art pieces. I have never been to this event, but have heard that it is fabulous. The artwork is supposed to be unbelievable, so I am honored to have been asked to participate. If you live in the Atlanta area, please visit the "Spotlight on Art" Artist Market, February 15 - 20, 2010. (www.spotlightonart.com)

Jewelry Stash
I have a huge jewelry stash that I use both in my fiber art and my junk art. These photos show a small portion of what I have collected. Luckily, I have family and friends that donate their pieces - but I have great luck at thrift shops and flea markets.

"LULU"
"LuLu" is another of my junk art pieces. This is another piece of wood that I found on the beach. I used bottle caps, wire, pieces of wood, jewelry, shells and beads for embellishment. The 1980's earrings that she is wearing belonged to one of my sisters.
I then drilled holes for the wire eyelashes and her beaded hair. She looks a little sad, doesn't she?

This is a piece that I made a few years ago.
I has sayings on it that my mother said when we were growing up. She had four girls, so I know that we drove her crazy.

"WEEZIE"
This is another junk piece made from a piece of wood that I found on the beach. I added paint, beads, buttons and jewelry.
Went to the beach last weekend and had some good finds: 3 sharks teeth, a couple of pieces of wood, great big eyeglass frames and some great shells.
We also saw some interesting sea creatures that had washed up on the beach. (We threw them back in the ocean)
It was a little cold outside, but we had a great time.
